Tina Leslie is pleased to present her latest exhibition at Highgate Gallery this summer, where she will showcase a selection of paintings inspired by both city and nature in mixed media and oil.
London Dreams is an impressionistic journey through the shapes, colours, and textures of London. It explores the structures of the city, forming patterns which respond to its many and varied sculptural forms.
From Hampstead Heath to Primrose Hill to Alexandra Palace, Tina weaves pathways through the contrasting architectures of buildings such as St Paul’s and the Shard. Along the Silver Thames she plays with colour and light. She invites you to engage with different perspectives through proximity and distance, gaining birds eye views and diving down into detailed interpretations of the life force of the capital.
Tina’s London paintings seek to explore the dynamism and balance of the urban context, doing justice to the monumental city while exploring the details within the beating heart of the cityscape.
In her series ‘Nature’s Threads’, Tina has sought inspiration from a very different source.
She has explored an intuitive desire to return to nature as a theme, attending to the interplay between photography, colourful acrylics, pastels on board and painting. There was a natural fluency which emerged spontaneously through this journey, researching the movement, shapes, colour and line in evocative weaving of lattice forms in branches, blooms, flowers and trees. The work explores the magic and the majesty of the art in nature.
Both themes celebrate enjoyment of the exciting possibilities of abstract pattern, energetic rhythms and vibrant colours.
